Accessibility at World of Silence
World of Silence is written by a deaf educator, and accessibility is a core part of this site. My goal is to make the blog easier to use for people with different hearing, vision, mobility, cognitive, and communication needs.
My commitments
Provide captions for every new video and add captions or a text alternative when older videos are updated.
Use meaningful alternative text for informative images. Decorative images will use empty alternative text so screen readers can skip them.
Write descriptive link text instead of vague phrases such as “click here.”
Use headings, lists, readable type, strong color contrast, and keyboard-visible focus styles.
Offer written communication through the site contact form.
Review older posts gradually, replacing broken or outdated media and correcting formatting that creates access barriers.
Need help accessing something?
If a page, image, video, or feature is difficult to use, please send the page title or link and describe what you need through the contact form. I will make a reasonable effort to provide the information in an accessible format and improve the page.
